Vincent Van Gogh was born Groot-Zundert, Holland in the year 1853. He was the son of a pastor, brought up in a spiritual and sophisticated ambiance. He is regarded as one of the greatest Dutch painters after Rembrandt. He was the eldest son of a Dutch reformed protestant minister and a bookseller’s daughter who pursued different professional courses that of a clergyman and art dealer before deciding to become an artist. He decided to become an artist at the age of 27 years.
